I am Alejandra Torres. I define myself as a proud woman, mother, grandmother and lawyer. I have 38 years of professional practice. That is to say, I have vast experience in living with the culture of public administration. I took my first steps back in 1982 studying and working in the Judiciary, otherwise it would have been impossible. Due to differences in equity policies, in 1989 I decided to leave that institution. For many, I would say ALL of them, it seemed crazy. How could I leave that? I think it was the wisest decision of my life and the one that allowed me to be who I am today and to have the life history that I have. Throughout my life I have held political decision-making positions at the national, provincial and now municipal levels. And I have collaborated in the transformation of other governments, such as El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Nicaragua and Honduras, in none of which it was easy for me. The fact of being a woman, always was and still is, a reason for discrimination, harassment and underestimation.
However, all this strengthened me. My positions have always been linked to the planning and transformation of processes. I have always been responsible for planning and transforming processes. At a national level, I was responsible for leading the design and implementation team of the most successful and lasting transformation in the labor world, which is the "law on labor risk", among other things. At a provincial level, I was in charge of the modernization process that merited the invitation to the UN annual assembly and the Gobernarte 2018 award.
I was founder and executive director of IDESA, (institute for Argentine Social Development) Institute that brought together young people with a vocation for public service. Nowadays it is still working and it is a very convoked institute for its serious and founded studies and researches. I am also Director of an important law firm in Cordoba.
Among other things, I am a lecturer, I have written books and countless newspaper articles where I have always tried to expose my position on issues.
And last but not least, I am a woman who believes that there is no such thing as "it can't be done".
